Internet users who access the web from a range of connected devices have a different experience to fixed broadband users, according to coordinator at Insafe Janice Richardson.
She explained mobile internet brings a new range of challenges and opportunities, acknowledging there are also new security issues.
It was suggested this is a particular concern for parents whose children will be able to access the web unsupervised.
Tony Neate, managing director of Get Safe Online and member of e-Crime Wales Steering Group, claimed passwords are essential on mobile devices, not only for this concern, but also because they are increasingly loaded with personal information.
Ms Richardson asserted the positives still far outweigh the risk of any potential negative impacts.
"I think as technology improves and becomes more mobile and more rapid, problems will get more difficult [and] you'll have to think very rapidly about how to respond in certain situations," she commented.
